Dramatic footage caught on a security camera shows an off-duty police officer rescuing an unconscious driver after he crashed his car into a petrol station.
Shortly after the driver was pulled from his vehicle, the fire spread and flames erupted from the burning wreckage.
According to a local news station, the rescuer was a New York State police officer, John Vescio, who was filling up his car when the crash occurred on Tuesday, 3 June.
He quickly rushed away from the flames, assessed the situation and returned, dragging away the unresponsive man who was still inside his vehicle.
The driver who crashed his car has not been identified, but local news reported he went into diabetic shock while driving.
