In Houston, Texas a construction worker trapped on a fourth-floor balcony is rescued from a blazing fire that engulfed an apartment under construction.
THIS heart-stopping video shows a construction worker being rescued from a burning building moments before it starts to collapse.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was on the fourth floor balcony of the apartment complex as the fire took hold around him.
He jumped on to a third floor balcony as the flames closed in on him, as firefighters extended a ladder to reach him.
The worker was pulled on to the ladder in the nick of time, as the facade of the fourth floor fell off and plummeted to the ground.
The fire broke out in Houston, Texas, early yesterday afternoon, with gusts of up to 40mph fanning the flames.
It was put out around two-and-a-half hours later, after hundreds of emergency personnel attended the scene.
No injuries were reported, but the 368-unit building was completely destroyed.
Houston Fire Department Captain Ruy Lozano told KPRC: “We had to rescue one construction worker … (he) was at the point of jumping.”
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
